Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters tallied two runs in the top of the tenth inning Friday night to top the Batavia Muckdogs 5-3 in their first extra-innings win this year.

The Cutters notched the game's first run in the top of fourth, as Aaron Altherr singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Bob Stumpo. The Muckdogs answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, using an RBI single by Juan Castillo to knot the game at one apiece.

Williamsport charged ahead 3-1 in the sixth, as Harold Martinez ripped an RBI double to score Kelly Dugan and make it a 2-1 game. Stumpo then hit another RBI single to center, scoring Martinez to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Muckdogs fought back in the bottom of the ninth off Juary Gomez, using a sacrifice fly by Philip Cerreto to cut the lead to 3-2. With two out and two on, Garrett Wittels' two-out RBI bunt single tied the game at 3-3.

The Cutters used two walks, an error, and a wild pitch to quickly plate two runs in the tenth inning to go up 5-3. Matt Campbell fired a perfect bottom of the frame to seal the win and earn his first career save.

These teams will rematch here Saturday at 7:05pm before traveling to Williamsport Sunday for a 5:05pm game. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
