Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Tonight's Game

The Aberdeen IronBirds continue their five-game road-trip tonight as they take on the Hudson Valley Renegades (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays). The IronBirds defeated the Lowell Spinners last night 9-1, completing a series win at LeLacheur Park. Aberdeen scored seven runs in the first two innings last night and never looked back. Tonight, Aberdeen will have reigning New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week Trent Howard on the hill. Howard has not allowed an earned run in his last three starts. The Renegades will have right-hander Parker Markel on the bump. Markel currently leads the league in ERA.

Offensive Explosion

After scoring just nine runs in their previous six games, the IronBirds lineup put up nine runs on nine hits in last night's win against the Spinners. Aberdeen was also aided by the Lowell pitching staff, which walked nine batters in the game.

Starr Shines in Win

IronBirds shortstop Sammie Starr drove in two runs and scored three times in Thursday night's win at Lowell. Starr doubled, homered, and walked twice. He now has 12 runs scored and 13 RBI in just 17 games played.

Wilson's Debut

Right-hander Tyler Wilson made his IronBirds debut last night. The 10th-round pick of the Baltimore Orioles in this year's draft, Wilson allowed an earned run on four hits in four innings of work. He walked none and struck out four.

Three In-A-Row'

The IronBirds are looking for their third win in as many nights tonight at Hudson Valley. Aberdeen has not won more than two game straight this season. The IronBirds have won back-to-back games four times so far this year.

McNamara Division Woes

The IronBirds play the next four games against the Renegades. Aberdeen has struggled mightily against Hudson Valley and the McNamara Division. The IronBirds are 1-6 against the Renegades this season, and 3-20 against the division. Aberdeen is an even 12-12 against teams outside the division.
