Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY - The last time the Aberdeen IronBirds visited Dutchess stadium, they were swept in two games by the Hudson Valley Renegades by a combined score of 23-1. Aberdeen extracted a measure of revenge Friday night as the IronBirds defeated the Renegades 9-3.
Aberdeen jumped on the scoreboard in the first. With one out, Sammie Starr singled. Mychal Givens worked a walk. With two men on, Joe Velleggia hit an RBI single. The next batter, Wynston Sawyer, lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Givens and making it 2-0.
The IronBirds tacked on a third run in the second. After loading the bases with one out, Renegades starting pitcher Parker Markel hit Starr in the back with a pitch.
Hudson Valley tied the game in the third. With one out, Brian Bryles tripled to the right-field wall. Chris Winder knocked him in with a groundball single to left-field. The next batter, Leonardo Reginatto, cracked a two-run homer to left field, tying the game at three.
The game didn't stay tied for long. 11 IronBirds came to the plate in the fourth inning. Austin Knight started it off with a walk. Dudley Leonora singled, putting two on with nobody out. Martin Serrata hit a two-run triple, making it 5-3.
The IronBirds weren't done. After Glynn Davis struck out, Starr knocked in Serrata on an RBI-single. A batter later, Velleggia (7) drilled a two-run homer to left field. Sawyer then singled. Connor Narron knocked him in with an RBI-double. Knight, who led off the inning, knocked in Narron with an RBI-single.

These two clubs will meet again Saturday night at Dutchess Stadium. The IronBirds will have former Baltimore Orioles first-round pick Matt Hobgood (0-3, 13.86) on the bump. He'll go up against RHP Trevor Shull (0-0, HNP). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
