-SPIKES BACK HOME FOR SIX GAMES: The State College Spikes start a six-game homestand tonight as they welcome the Jamestown Jammers to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for the first game of a three-game series. State College swept a two-game series from Jamestown at Diethrick Park earlier this month, and leads the season series, 4-3. Jamestown leads the all-time series between the two teams, 32-25.
-LAST GAME: Wes Freeman and Alex Dickerson combined for six hits to power a 12-hit attack in support of Nick Kingham as the State College Spikes jumped on the Auburn Doubledays early and earned a 6-1 win to end their six-game road trip on Monday night at Falcon Park. Both Freeman and Dickerson finished the evening 3-for-5 with a run batted in, but Freeman collected a pair of two-base hits to Dickerson's one. Kingham took full advantage of the lead afforded to him. In five innings, the right- hander allowed just two hits to Auburn's Caleb Ramsey and struck out six Doubledays batters to lower his ERA to 2.36.
-STEVENSON GETS START FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Trent Stevenson gets the ball for State College tonight in his fifh start of 2011 for the club. Last time out, Stevenson yielded four runs on ten hits over five innings in a loss to Hudson Valley on Thursday. The 2009 seventh-round draft pick of the PIrates, Stevenson has just one road outing for the Spikes in 2011. Stevenson is allowing lefties a .250 average, as opposed to .400 for righties.
-JAMMERS TAP NEIL TO START OPENER: Jamestown right-hander Matthew Neil gets the ball tonight to begin the series. Neil is also making his 13th start of the year. The 29th-round pick of the Marlins out of BYU this year, Neil walked onto the team in college after spending two years in New York as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Neil went seven innings in a no-decision against the Spikes on August 7.
