Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

Tonight's Game

For the fourth day in-a-row, the Aberdeen IronBirds will take on the Connecticut Tigers (Class-A Short-Season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers). The IronBirds snapped a five-game losing streak last night at Connecticut, winning 7-3. Aberdeen tied a season-high with 16 hits in the win. Six different IronBirds batters had multi-hit games. Reliever Matt Taylor allowed a run on three hits in three innings of work to pick up his second win of the season. Tonight, the IronBirds will try to make it two-in-a-row with the right-hander Ryan Berry on the mound. Berry, who is expected to pitch around three innings tonight, is making his second start of the year for Aberdeen. He'll go up against reigning New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Week Wilsen Palacios.

Hit Parade

Aberdeen tied a season-high with 16 hits in last night's win at Connecticut. 15 of the hits were singles. Ryan Zrenda's triple was the IronBirds' only extra base hit. Glynn Davis, Austin Knight, Mychal Givens, Adam Davis, Dudley Leonora, and Martin Serrata all had multi-hit games. Everybody in Aberdeen's starting lineup had at least one hit. The IronBirds also tied a season-high with 14 men left on base.

Wonderful Wilson

Starting pitcher Tyler Wilson once again pitched well in yesterday's 7-3 win. The right-hander from the University of Virginia allowed just two runs on four hits in five innings. Wilson left in position to get the win, but Taylor surrendered a game-tying run in the sixth inning.

Home Sweet Home

After a 1-5 road trip, the IronBirds return home to the friendly confines of Ripken Stadium for five games. It's the longest home stand since the beginning of July, when the IronBirds played two games against the Hudson Valley Renegades followed by three against the Lowell Spinners. On the season, the IronBirds are 11-19 at home.

Three More Versus Connecticut

After a three-game series at Connecticut, the Tigers followed the IronBirds to Aberdeen for three more games. The Tigers took two out of three from Aberdeen at Dodd Stadium. It's the second time this season the IronBirds have played the same opponent six straight days. In July, Aberdeen played the Vermont Lake Monsters six games in-a-row.
