Stars Win Overtime Thriller at Vivint Arena

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars earned their 20th win of the season tonight in an overtime thriller, defeating the Stockton Kings 114-110 at Vivint Smart Home Arena, home of the Utah Jazz, in front of a season-best crowd of 7,169.

Utah Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Foreman scored a team-high 30 points, registering his second 30-point game of the season, including the go-ahead bucket with 10.6 seconds remaining in overtime. Nigel Williams-Goss, currently on assignment from the Jazz, tallied his first double-double of the season with 11 points and a Stars season-high 11 assists. Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley finished with 25 points on 11-of-19 (.579) from the field.

The Kings were led by Isaiah Canaan, who finished with a game-high 31 points. Brigham Young University and Lone Peak High product Eric Mika tallied a 20/10 game with 24 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.

The Stars led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter (42-27), but the Kings trimmed the lead to six points at intermission (57-51). Wright-Foreman connected on a three-pointer to put the Stars ahead by one point (108-107) with 3.9 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Kings tied it up and forced overtime on a Mika free throw. Salt Lake City outscored Stockton 6-2 in the two-minute overtime period to secure the win.

Prior to tonight's game, the Stars organization welcomed participants from Junior Jazz, the largest and longest-running youth basketball league in the NBA, for a pregame party at Vivint Smart Home Arena. In partnership with the Utah STEM Action Center, tonight's game also featured interactive STEM exhibits for youth, including Utah Jazz Gaming, West High Robotics, Utah Valley University College of Science, Discovery Gateway Children's Museum and a 3D printing demonstration.

The Stars will continue their season-long six-game homestand with a matchup against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate) on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at Bruin Arena. The game tips off at 7 p.m. (MT) and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
