Iowa Chops News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars will be giving the "jerseys off their backs" to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Special authentic jerseys will be worn for this one-time event - a game versus the Quad City Flames on January 12 at 7:07 PM.
There will be a live auction after the game where the players' jerseys will be auctioned off to the most generous bidder. The winning bidders will get to have their jerseys autographed and their pictures taken with the player after the game. Autographed photos of the players' and other hockey items will also be available in the silent auction. The team and buyers will be helping nearly 500 Central Iowans who are living with neuromuscular disease.
"We are very excited to be working with the Iowa Stars on this wonderful event. We're proud that they are giving back to the community. The jersey auction is a great way to bring awareness of MDA to the public," said MDA Health Care Service Coordinator Mackenzie Herrick.
Prior to the Stars game versus Quad City, Wells Fargo Arena will host the Third Annual Guns N Hoses Charity Hockey game that features firefighters and law enforcement officers from around the state in a head to head matchup. The Guns N Hoses game is set to begin at 3:45 PM on January 12, proceeds from this game will benefit the MDA as well.
