Columbus Returns Derek MacKenzie

Syracuse, NY (December 19, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have returned center Derek MacKenzie.

MacKenzie, 26, has appeared in 30 games with the Crunch this season, tallying 12 goals, 6 assists and 28 penalty minutes. MacKenzie has also appeared in two games with Columbus this season, notching two penalty minutes. A native of Sudbury, Ontario, MacKenzie was originally drafted by Atlanta in the fifth round, 128th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. He was signed by Columbus as a free agent on July 11, 2007.

The Crunch's next game is Wednesday, December 19 as they travel to Toronto to take on the Marlies. The Crunch return home on Friday, December 21 as they face-off against the Albany River Rats at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
