Houston Aeros reassign Jon Awe and Moises Gutierrez to ECHL

HOUSTON, Texas - The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced the club has reassigned defenseman Jon Awe to ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators. Right wing Moises Gutierrez was also reassigned to the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL.

Awe, 27 (4/30/80), has played in 14 games this season with the Aeros tallying five points (one goal, four assists) and four penalty minutes (PIM). The Memphis, Tenn., native recorded seven points (2-5=7) and 12 PIM with the Gladiators prior to joining Houston. Awe was undrafted and played four seasons with the NCAA's Northeastern University before playing for Gwinnett.

Gutierrez, 21 (7/20/86), has notched two points (1-1=2) and two PIM in six games with Houston this season. The Anchorage, Ak., native has recorded four assists and eight PIM in seven games with Texas. Gutierrez was a sixth round (No. 164 overall) selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Aeros return home this Saturday, December 22, 2007 when they host the Springfield Falcons.
