Stars Start Early, Burn Mudcats

Huntsville, AL --- Brock Kjelgaard tripled home a pair of two-out runs to highlight a four-run first inning springing the Huntsville Stars to an 8-1 victory over the Carolina Mudcats on Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium.

The Stars (18-20) took a 2-1 series lead on the Mudcats (17-21) and rebounded from a 13-1 defeat on Monday night. Kjelgaard, Khris Davis and Hainley Statia each tripled during the win.

Brandon Hynick (L, 1-3) allowed six runs over four innings to absorb the loss.

Michael Bowman (W, 3-9) registered his first win since May 28th, working six innings allowing one run.

The Mudcats were limited to seven hits, with Eric Campbell going 3-4 with a pair of doubles.

Curtis Partch makes his first Double-A start of the year on Wednesday night at 7:43 PM ET against Dan Merkliner (7-6, 4.01).
