
Generals Bounce Back Wednesday With Win To Even Series

JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 3, 2011) - The Generals bounced back Wednesday night to the tune of a 5-3 victory over the Mississippi Braves at Pringles Park. The Generals evened the series at 2-2, forcing the rubber match of the series on Thursday night. Steven Hensley gave Jackson a quality start and won his first game since July 9th.
Hensley (2-6) pitched six innings for the Generals and allowed three runs on six hits, walking two and striking out four. Brian Moran pitched 1.2 innings behind Hensley to get a hold and Steve Delabar earned his 12th save pitching 1.1 innings and striking out one. Aaron Shafer, just up from Single-A suffered the loss for the Braves and surrendered five runs on 11 hits. Bethel Springs, TN native Rowdy Hardy pitched 2.1 scoreless innings behind Shafer.
Carlos Triunfel extended his hitting streak to nine games Thursday with a 2-for-4 game, scoring a run and driving in a run. For the fourth time this season Scott Savastano collected four hits and was 4-for-5 with two runs. Vinnie Catricala, Francisco Martinez and Brandon Bantz had two hits. Martinez has a hit in each of his first three Generals games.
Jackson led for the first time since Sunday by sending across three runs in the bottom of the first. Scott Savastano and Carlos Triunfel reached on hits and with two outs Chih-Hsien Chiang singled them both in. Francisco Martinez followed with an RBI infield single and the Generals led 3-0.
The Braves chipped away and tied the game after scoring a run in the third and then two more in the fourth after Ernesto Mejia and Donell Linares opened the fourth inning with doubles. That game was even at 3-3 in the fourth.
The Generals went back ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning after a pair of RBI singles by Carlos Triunfel and Vinnie Catricala. The Generals went up and held for a 5-3 win.
The Generals wrap up their five-game series on Thursday night at Pringles Park against the Mississippi Braves. Game time is set for 7:05 pm. RHP Andrew Carraway (7-3, 3.35) makes the start for the Generals against LHP Jose Lugo (0-2, 4.10) for Mississippi. The meeting will be the 24th and final meeting against the Atlanta Braves' Double-A Affiliate this season (9-12). The game can be heard on Jackson's NewsTalk 101.5 FM and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com
