Stars Outshine Mudcats 8-1

Huntsville Stars News Release

Huntsville, Ala. - The Huntsville Stars (55-53) hit for the cycle as a team as they rolled to an 8-1 victory over the Carolina Mudcats (40-68).

Hainley Statia, Khris Davis and Brock Kjeldgaard all hit triples in the game as well as recorded multi-hit games. Zelous Wheeler capped off the night with a solo-home run that concluded the Stars scoring.

Michael Bowman (3-9) took the early run support and picked up his first win in over two months. Bowman went six innings, allowing the only Mudcats run and four hits.

The Mudcats run was driven in by Eric Campbell who recorded a three-hit game. Neftali Soto was held 0-for-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.

Now leading the series 2-1, the Stars will look to win the series in game four Wednesday night with LHP Dan Merklinger (7-6, 4.01 ERA) on the mound.
