
Stars Secure Second Battle Against Blue 123-102

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, extended their second victory in a back-to-back set against the Oklahoma City Blue on Wednesday night at the Maverik Center 123-102.
The Stars were led by NBA G League sharpshooter Paris Bass who finished with a team-high 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in just over 23 minutes of play coming off the bench. Guard Frank Jackson tallied 19 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Utah Jazz assignment player, Leandro Bolmaro posted 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
The Blue were led by another reserve, Jaden Shackelford, with a game-high 25 points paired with four rebounds, and four assists. Blue guard Lindy Waters III totaled 22 points, while D.J. Wilson added 11 points and five rebounds. Blue Abdul Gaddy dished out a game-high 12 assists.
Oklahoma City came out of the gate hot, taking a seven-point lead with 7:36 left in the first quarter, but Salt Lake City closed the period on a 12-5 run to catch the Blue's lead and claim the first quarter 28-27. The second period fell in the Stars' favor once more despite a Blue lead 52-46 with just over a remaining two minutes to play, Jazz assignment player Leandro Bolmaro drove the team with a layup and step back shot to regain a Stars five-point lead at intermission.
The Stars held their lead through the final two periods as they outscored the blue 92-76 in the third before grabbing 123-102 victory. Rawle Alkins tallied 10 of his 12 points in the second half while handing off seven assists, while Paris Bass went 9-of-14 from the field to help secure Salt Lake City's 21-point win.
Salt Lake City held the advantage in three-pointers (17-14), grabbed more rebounds (42-32), dished out more assists (33-32), and tallied more second-chance points (15-13). Oklahoma led in fast-break points (11-7) and took more field goal attempts (86-82), while both teams tied in steals (10-10) and bench points (50-50).
Salt Lake City will head to Las Vegas for the annual G League Showcase with contests played from Dec. 19-22. Games will stream live on NBAGLeague.com.
