Memphis Hustle Defeat Lakeland Magic 132-130 in Overtime Win

Southaven, Miss. - The Memphis Hustle, the NBA G League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated the Lakeland Magic 132-130 in overtime on Tuesday at Landers Center.
After trailing by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, the Hustle forced overtime with Xavier Tillman Sr.'s running buzzer beater that tied the game at 125 at the end of regulation. The Hustle and Magic traded points in overtime before Vince Williams Jr. rebounded a missed shot from Dakota Mathias and dunked the ball to win the game to hit the final target score.
Mathias led the Hustle with a career-high 36 points and tied a career-high eight 3-pointers made in his first game of the season off the bench. Tillman Sr. followed with his second double-double in three games this season behind a career-high 29 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Williams Jr. scored 17 points, and Kennedy Chandler added 12 points. Kenneth Lofton Jr. posted 10 points and five rebounds, and Jake LaRavia scored six points in his G League debut.
Jay Scrubb led the Legends with a career-high 42 points and five assists. Zavier Simpson followed with 24 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, while Simisola Shittu posted 21 points and eight rebounds. Robert Baker III finished with 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench, and Aleem Ford added 14 points.
Lakeland led almost the entire game and reached their largest lead of the night, 93-72, with 4:58 remaining in the third quarter. Memphis mounted a 20-2 run to pull within 95-92 and entered the final quarter 99-94. The Hustle took the lead 115-114 after Mathias hit a 3-pointer with 3:50 remaining in regulation.
The Hustle will play the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at Landers Center on Friday, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. CT in the second matchup of their three-game home stand.
