Clippers End Showcase Cup With Loss To South Bay

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Clippers (12-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the LA Clippers, end a strong Showcase Cup campaign with a loss to the South Bay Lakers (11-4), 131-95, on Thursday night.

All five Clipper starters scored in double figures, led by Xavier Moon's 22 points on seven-of-15 shooting. Nate Darling followed closely with 21 points, knocking down five of his nine three-point attempts.

South Bay was led by Devin Cannady's game-high 26 points. Jay Huff (14 points, 11 rebounds) and LJ Figueroa (12 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles in the victory.

The match wasn't much of a contest, as Ontario trailed for nearly the entire 48 minutes. South Bay dominated from the tip off, shooting a hot 56.8 percent from the field (50-for-88) and 51.4 percent from distance (18-for-35) as they watched their advantage grow to as much as 41 on the night. The Lakers also outrebounded the Clippers, 56-31, and recorded more assists, 29-16.

As the showcase cup winds down, the Clippers are headed to Las Vegas for the G League Winter Showcase where they will participate in the Showcase Cup Tournament. Date and opponent are still to be determined.
