Stars Secure Playoff Spot
April 13, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Chops News Release
DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars President John Pettit today announced the dates and times for the two possible First Round Calder Cup Playoff scenarios. The Stars locked-up the fourth and final playoff spot in the West Division portion of the Calder Cup Playoffs with a four-goal third period explosion and a 6-2 win in Houston. Depending on the outcome of the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights and the Chicago Wolves games, Iowa will either square-off against Omaha or Chicago in the First Round. Currently, the Knights hold a slim one-point lead for first in the Division.
No matter which team Iowa plays, the best-of-seven series would see the first two games played on the road, before returning to Wells Fargo Arena for games three and four. Because Omaha is within 300 miles, that series would be a 2-2-1-1-1 series, while if Iowa was to play Chicago, that series would be a 2-3-2 series. Games Five through Seven are all If Necessary. All of Iowa's home dates would have 7:00 PM face-offs. Please see the possible schedules below:
