
Moose Announce Year-End Award Winners

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, were pleased to announce the winners of their 11th annual year-end awards prior to their game tonight versus the Toronto Marlies on Friday, April 13th, 2007 at the MTS Centre.
Manitoba Moose forward Jason Jaffray received four awards on the night thanks to the best season of his pro career. So far this season, the Olds, AB native is the team leader in scoring with 35 goals, good for seventh in the AHL in goal scoring. He also has 46 assists for 81 points - all career-highs - which leaves him in fifth in the AHL in overall scoring. Between December 28, 2006 and January 12, 2007, Jaffray set a new Moose record by scoring goals in seven consecutive games. He leads the league with nine game-winning goals which also established a new Manitoba Moose record. He is also tied for the team mark of 16 powerplay goals in a season along with teammate Lee Goren (â04-05) and Scott Thomas (â98-99). Earlier this season, Jaffray was selected to the Canadian All-Stars team at the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto where he scored a goal. As a result, Jaffray received the Instaframe Most Valuable Player Award, the TFI Financial Services Leading Scorer Award, the MTS 3-Stars Award, and Remax Real Estate Most Popular Player Award.
Other year-end award winners included goaltender Drew MacIntyre and forward J.J. Hunter who shared The University of Winnipeg Julian Klymkiw Community Service Award. Nathan Smith was named the winner of the Manitoba Blue Cross Unsung Hero Award while defenceman Maxime Fortunus won the Toyota "Never Quits" Hardest Working Player Award. Defenceman Alex Edler was named the Lawton Partners Rookie of the Year, while Yannick Tremblay was given the Dundee Wealth Management Best Defencemen Award.
Representatives from the Moose corporate partners were on hand for the pre-game ceremonies to present the award winners with their trophies.
