Stars Power Ahead to 7-2 Win over Fargo

FARGO, N.D. - The Lincoln Stars (31-21-1-1) quelled an early storm and powered ahead to a 7-2 win over the Fargo Force (31-16-3-4) on Friday night at Scheels Arena.

The Force jumped to an early 1-0 lead at 0:59 of the first period thanks to a goal from forward John Schuldt. The Stars answered back later in the period at 10:44 when defenseman Christian Krygier found forward Paul Cotter open off the left post, tying the game at 1-1.

A quick tally by Stars forward Devlin McCabe at 0:57 of the second period on a snipe shot in the right circle quickly gave the Stars their first lead of the night, 2-1. In his first game back since March 2, Stars defenseman Carter Long found a seam at the right point at 4:24, doubling the advantage to 3-1.

The Stars scored two more in the first half of the third period starting at 3:47 thanks to forward Josiah Slavin followed by a power play goal from Cotter at 7:27 to quadruple the lead, 5-1. Force forward Griffin Loughran answered back at 9:32 to bring the score to 5-2. Stars forward Ashton Calder cashed in off the right post at 17:16 then found forward Zach Dubinsky in front of the net at 19:03 to seal the 7-2 win.

Stars goaltender Tomáš Vomá?ka (22-17-0) stopped 25 of 27 shots in the win. Force netminder Strauss Mann (19-8-3) saved 32 of 39 shots in the loss.
