Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI - The Omaha Lancers grabbed their only lead of the night with just 1:27 to play, getting the late game-winner from Cole Gallant and sneaking past the Muskegon Lumberjacks Friday at LC Walker Arena.
Jack Randl would add an empty netter to make the final score 4-2 in favor of the visitors.
On Muskegon's first power play of the game, they had some good chances yet couldn't score, but that changed on their second power play.
Jachym Kondelik, showing great skill and patience, got a pass in tight and had several wacks at the puck in front. On the second or third try he was able to stuff a shot between the outstretched legs of Christian Sbaraglia. That made it 1-0 Muskegon on their second Belle Tire Power Play of the game.
It didn't take long for Omaha to get on the board in the second period. Christian O'Neill forced a turnover in the Jacks' zone and found himself in all alone on Muskegon netminder Keegan Karki. O'Neill was able to put one past the Minnesota native to tie the game 1-1.
But the game didn't stay tied long. Just after Omaha tied the game, Matej Pekar received a nice pass from Anthony Del Gaizo and at the top of the circle Pekar sent a rocket of a shot past Sbaraglia to give the Jacks the lead back. That would be the end of Sbaraglia as he was pulled in favor of Zach Driscoll. Sbaraglia finished the night with two goals allowed on 11 shots.
Driscoll stopped all 24 shots he faced, improving to 19-9-2 on the season.
After several back and forth power plays, Omaha finally broke through on the man advantage as Cole Gallant sent a hard shot from the blue line that beat Karki clean to tie the game up once again 2-2.
Gallant scored his second of the game in the late stages and Omaha was able to score an empty-net goal to secure their first regulation win since March 2.
Muskegon and Omaha take the ice to conclude their two-game regular season series tomorrow night at LC Walker Arena. On Jacks Fight Cancer Night, the puck will drop at 7:15pm. Special jerseys will be worn in-game and auctioned off postgame.
Muskegon goals: Kondelik (13), Pekar (13)
Muskegon assists: Marc Del Gaizo (26), A. Del Gaizo (28), Mikael Hakkarainen (28,29)
