Omaha Lancers News Release
Muskegon, MI - The Omaha Lancers and Muskegon Lumberjacks faced off for game one of the weekend series on Friday at L.C. Walker Arena. This was the first time the two teams have faced off this season. Omaha called on young goaltender, Christian Sbaraglia to play between the pipes. Sbaraglia (3-3-0-0), was named USHL goaltender of the week after helping the Lancers win in OT on Sunday to the Tri-City Storm (2-1). The Lancers came into the Friday night showdown with a record of 32-16-2-3 (69 pts).
In the first period, the Lumberjacks capitalized on their second power play opportunity. Jachym Kondelik was called for the goal on Sbaraglia to give Muskegon the 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Christian O'Neil got the Lancers on the board scoring on Keegan Karki. The Lumberjacks though got back out in front with a goal from Matej Pekar. After that goal, Omaha brought out Zach Driscoll in place of Christian Sbaraglia. On the power play, Cole Gallant tied the game up scoring top-shelf on Karki.
It was not until late in the third period when Cole Gallant broke the tie in the game. With under a minute to play, Muskegon pulled Karki for the extra attacker. Jack Randl fought for the puck and put it in the back of the empty net. Omaha skated away with at 2-4 victory on Friday night.
Sbaraglia stopped 9 shots and Driscoll stopped all 24 that he faced.
The Lancers improve to 33-16-2-3 with 71 points in the USHL Western Conference. This was the first regulation win for the Lancers since facing the Chicago Steel on March 2nd.
