Stars Look to Even Series with Buccaneers

Des Moines, IA - The Stars (16-10-0) travel to Des Moines to take on the Buccaneers (10-13-2) on Saturday night at Buccaneer Arena. Puck drop it set for 7:05 p.m.

The game will mark the sixth of eight meetings between the teams this season. Des Moines leads the season series 3-2-0, winning the last three games.

The Stars have lost four of their last five games and are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games. The Buccaneers have won three of their last five and are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.

Friday vs. Madison - (4-2 L)

The Stars held a 2-1 lead at the second intermission, but the Capitols rode a three-goal third period and two power play goals to defeat the Stars in the Alliant Energy Center.

Stars Lately - The top-ranked Stars have lost four of their last five games and are 4-6-0 in their last 10 games. With Ludvig Hoff and Grant Jozefek competing internationally, the Stars are led by Adam Brady (8-15-23) and Patrick Polino (11-9-20).

Top Prospects - Ludvig Hoff, Grant Jozefek, Christian Evers and Peyton Jones were named to the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects game in Omaha, Nebraska on Jan. 12. USHL and NHL personnel collaborated to pick the 40-man roster to be divided between a Team East and Team West.

International Results - Jozefek helped Team USA take third place in the World Junior A Challenge with three goals and two assists in five games.

Scouting Des Moines - The Bucs have won three of their last five games, including a 6-4 win against the Omaha Lancers on Friday night. Des Moines is 8th in the Western Conference and four points out of a playoff spot.

Stars vs. Bucs - The Stars are 2-3-0 vs. the Bucs this season, going 1-1-0 in Buccaneer Arena. The Stars have dropped their last three games to the Bucs, getting outscored 13-5 in that stretch. The teams will meet again in Des Moines on Deb. 12 and in Lincoln on March 4.

New Faces - The Stars added Chayse Primeau as a replacement player while Ludvig Hoff and Grant Jozefek are playing internationally. Stars affiliate Kyle Kawamura was called up to play this weekend.

Hot Hands - Adam Brady has seven assists in the last six games. Patrck Polino has four points in his last four games. Biagio Lerario is on a three-game goal-scoring streak.

Jersey Auction Success - The Stars raised more than $20,000 for Make-A-Wish Nebraska with their jersey auction on Saturday night. The Stars also collected and delivered hundreds of teddy bears to Community Action, a local non-profit, as a part of the annual Teddy Bear Toss.

Overtime Heroes - Lincoln is 3-0-0 in overtime and shootouts this season. Jozefek and Hoff have the Stars' overtime winners.

(Super) Power Play - The Stars have the second best power play in the league, scoring on 24.2% of chances (23-95).

Scoring By Committee - 17 Stars have scored goals and 19 have registered points. Alex Green is the only skater without a point.

20th Anniversary Season - The Stars are celebrating their 20th Anniversary Season this year. The team played its first season in 1996-1997.

Oh Captain, My Captain - Biagio Lerario was named team captain for the 2015-2016 season. Ludvig Hoff, Patrick Polino and Dylan Woolf were named assistants. The Stars eight-man leadership group includes those four players along with Adam Brady, Sam Kauppila, Ryan Jones and Christian Evers.
