Lincoln Stars News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Buccaneers outlasted the Stars, holding onto a 3-1 second-period lead to win, 4-2, in Buccaneer Arena on Saturday night.
Neither team scored in the first period, making it 0-0 at the first intermission.
The offense picked up in the second with a combined total of four goals scored.
Adam Brady put the Stars on the board with a power play goal at 1:55 of the second, but the 1-0 lead wouldn't hold. The Buccaneers responded with three goals before the second intermission.
Des Moines forward Zach Jordan tallied on the power play before Chandler Lindstrand and James Gobetz added even-strength goals to make it 3-1 after 40 minutes.
The Stars closed the gap to 3-2 with Henry Bolwby's third-period goal, but Patrick Grasso would seal the victory for the Buccaneers with an empty-netter in the final minute to make it a 4-2 final.
Biagio Lerario extended his three-game point streak with an assist on Brady's goal. Ryan Jones and Sam Kauppila also picked up assists in the game.
Peyton Jones finished with 38 saves.
The Stars return to the Ice Box on Tuesday, Dec. 29 against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and more information log onto lincolnstars.com.
