Lincoln Stars News Release

LINCOLN, NE-The Stars squared off with the Tri-City Storm on the eve of Thanksgiving, Wednesday. After a tough weekend, Lincoln looked to pick up where they last left off against the Storm, when they beat them 3-0 on Veterans day.

It was Tri-City that gained the early edge in Wednesday's contest. After seeing a few solid chances turned back by Jake Mucitelli, the Storm capitalized when Jake Crespi found Elias Rosen open at the top of the slot. The Swedish defenseman ripped home his second goal of the season to put the Storm up 1-0. Despite penalties taken by both teams down the final stretch of the first, neither side could add to the scoreboard, sending the contest to break in a 1-0 Storm lead.

Colby Ambrosio would tack on Tri-City's second tally shortly into the second on an assist from Ronnie Attard. Bolstered by the quick score, the Storm would add another when Ambrosio found the net again on the power play at 11:39.

The Stars would pick up a much-needed response when Logan Britt's rebound kicked out to Matthew Barbolini. The big forward ripped the puck home to cut the deficit to 3-1 after two.

The third period witnessed a Stars comeback effort through the first 15 minutes of play. The try would fall short. Colby Ambrosio capped a hat trick just shy of the 15 minute marker to build a 4-1 lead for Tri-City.

The flood gates opened. Connor McMenamin added a power play goal at 17:15 to make it 5-1. Khristan Acosta came back down to score 22 seconds later. Shane Pinto would rip a goal top shelf to narrow the deficit back to 6-2 at 18:24. Zac Jones would get one more in for the Storm in the final minute of play to end the game 7-2. Jake Barczewski's 20 saves included many stops of high-quality chances for Lincoln, and his play kept the Stars behind throughout.

The Stars will look to bounce back with a road trip to Des Moines Friday with puck drop set for 7:05 pm. Lincoln will return home Saturday, November 24th to play Tri-City again at 7:05 pm.
