Three third period goals were the Waterloo Black Hawks' undoing on Wednesday in a 4-2 loss against the Sioux City Musketeers at Tyson Events Center.

Waterloo went into the final 20 minutes ahead by a goal, but an early power play score quashed the lead. Parker Ford sent the puck toward the net from left wing; Jared Moe parried it away, but it hit Bobby Brink just outside the crease and bounced in.

Brink struck again shorthanded just over six minutes later. Backing down a defender one-on-one, he whistled a shot under the crossbar from the deep slot. Ford added an empty-netter to put the game out of reach with just over a minute remaining.

The Black Hawks had notched the opening goal with a rush into the offensive end just past the midpoint of the first period. Matt Koopman steered through the right circle and flipped a pass to Emil Ohrvall, who spiked the puck into an open side. The Musketeers answered just over two minutes later. On a goalmouth scramble, Aaron Grounds got the last touch, knocking a shot past Moe.

An icing call and a long sequence in the Sioux City zone set up the only goal of the second period. The Musketeers finally cleared their end, but Koopman caught them in the change, hitting Matej Blumel with a head-man pass for a partial breakaway. Blumel stepped up the slot to flip a shot past Ben Kraws' glove side.

The Hawks are back at work Thursday night for the annual Thanksgiving game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Bring a new plush toy to throw onto the ice for Toys for Tots during the Teddy Bear Toss, presented by K98.5 FM after the Black Hawks' first goal.
