Texas Stars News Release
CEDAR PARK, Texas - Taylor Peters scored a pair of goals to give the Texas Stars a 2-0 lead, but Iiro Pakarinen tallied the overtime-winner from the right circle at 1:32 to complete a comeback win for the visiting Oklahoma City Barons on Friday night at Cedar Park Center.
Connor Jones tallied the assist on the game-winner for the Barons. Gemel Smith finished with a pair of assists for the Stars in the loss.
Peters opened up the scoring with 7:21 remaining in the second period when Smith's dump from neutral ice took an awkward bounce off the glass and left Oklahoma City's goaltender Laurent Brossoit standed behind the net with the Stars forward alone in the left circle.
In the third, Peters added another from Smith off a touch pass into the slot from the left circle for a power play tally at 4:13. The Barons would return fire on goals from Tommy Mele at 6:52 and Graeme Craig at 12:37 in the third, before Pakarinen's winner.
Henrik Kiviaho started the game for Texas, stopping all 10 shots he faced. Maxime Lagace came on in relief midway through the second, stopping seven shots. Brossoit finished with 21-of-22 saves. Tyler Bunz turned aside eight shots for the Barons.
The Stars finished 1-for-6 on the power play. Oklahoma City went 0-for-6.
The Stars host the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center in their final preseason game before the start of the 2014-15 campaign on Oct. 11 against the Iowa Wild.
Three Stars:
1. Iiro Pakarinen (OKC)
2. Taylor Peters (TEX)
3. Gemel Smith (TEX)
