
Detroit Assigns McCollum and Aubry

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday assigned goaltender Tom McCollum and forward Louis-Marc Aubry to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
McCollum, 24, ranked fourth among AHL goaltenders during the 2013-14 season with a 2.30 goals against average, alongside a 24-12-4 record, two shutouts and a 0.922 save percentage. Last season, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound netminder set career bests in games played (46), wins and save percentage. A native of Cambria, N.Y., McCollum ranks among the Griffins' all-time goaltending leaders with 159 games played (3rd), 8,880:48 minutes (3rd), 69 wins (3rd), five shutouts (7th) and 3,886 saves (3rd). McCollum was Detroit's first choice (30th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Aubry, 22, made 38 appearances and tallied four points (2-2 - 4) with the Griffins last season. Detroit's third choice (81st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Aubry also put up 15 points (7-8 - 15) in 18 games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye during 2013-14. In three seasons as a Griffin, the 6-foot-4, 213-pound center has compiled 32 points (11-21 - 32) and 115 penalty minutes in 164 regular season games.
The Griffins' roster now stands at 25 as the team begins a pair of neutral-site preseason games against the Lake Erie Monsters tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, before squaring off again on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
The Griffins will open their 19th season at home next Friday, Oct. 10 when Lake Erie pays a 7 p.m. visit to Van Andel Arena.
