Florida Panthers Make Roster Moves; Six Assigned to San Antonio

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has assigned the following players to San Antonio (AHL): F Rocco Grimaldi, F Quinton Howden, F Drew Shore, F Vincent Trocheck, D Alex Petrovic and D Mackenzie Weegar.

"All of these players competed very hard over the last two weeks and had excellent training camps," said Tallon. "They are all young and talented players who will be a big part of our organization moving forward. We are very confident that they will help us win now and in the future."

In addition, the club has placed D Blake Parlett on injured reserve. The Panthers training camp roster now stands at 24 players.

Grimaldi most recently led the University of North Dakota to the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals. He was named MVP of the NCAA Midwest Regional after leading UND past both Wisconsin and Ferris State. The Rossmoor, CA native completed the 2013-2014 season placing first among all UND players in goals (17) and assists (22).

Howden tallied 10 goals and 17 assists for the Rampage last season and led the team with three shorthanded goals. In 16 games with the Panthers he notched four goals and two assists,

Shore finished with six goals last season and was tied for the team lead in assists with 26. He played in 24 games with Florida, tallying five goals and two assists.

Trocheck is coming off a breakout rookie campaign in which he finished second in points for the Rampage and tied for the team lead in assists. He tallied 16 goals and 26 assists in 55 games for the Silver and Black and made his NHL debut in March, playing in 20 games for the Panthers and finishing with five goals and three assists.

Petrovic was one of the Rampage's top defensemen last season. He put up two goals and 11 assists in 43 games in the Alamo City and recorded 79 penalty minutes. Petrovic played seven games with Florida.

Weegar played in 61 regular season games for the Halifax Mooseheads this season (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League), ranking fourth among QMJHL defensemen with 59 points (12-47-59). He helped Halifax reach the QMJHL semifinals, falling to the eventual champion Val-d'Or Foreurs, while recording 22 points (5-17-22) in the postseason.
