Stars Cruise Past Warriors

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors 102-77 at Kaiser Permanente Arena tonight.

Salt Lake City was paced by Utah Jazz assignment player Miye Oni, who tallied a game-high 18 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists. Juwan Morgan recorded his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, to go with four blocks. Kyle Collinsworth also collected a double-double (first of the season) with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley tallied 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Utah Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Foreman finished with 14 points on 6-of-10 (.600) from the field to lead all Stars reserves.

The Warriors were led by Juan Toscano-Anderson, who tallied his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Deyonta Davis finished with 10 points and six rebounds. D.J. Johnson recorded six points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.

The Stars came out of the gate strong, jumping to a 29-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and they did not look back. Salt Lake City pushed its lead to 17 points to go up 61-44 at the half. The Stars continued to dominate on both ends of the floor after the intermission, extending their lead to 32 points (88-56) with 11:09 left to play in the final frame.

Salt Lake City held the edge in rebounds (59-45), blocks (8-2) and fast break points (25-9) while Santa Cruz owned the advantage in second chance points (11-7) and steals (12-11). The biggest difference in the game came down to field goal percentage, with Salt Lake City outshooting Santa Cruz (.439-.355). Salt Lake City also forced 16 Santa Cruz turnovers, which they converted to 21 points.

The Stars will return to Salt Lake City to host the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat affiliate) on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. (MT) at Bruin Arena for "Military Appreciation Night presented by Savage Industries". The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
