Stars Cruise Past Musketeers, 5-2

Sioux City, Iowa - The Stars pumped five goals en route to a 5-2 win against the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday in the Tyson Events Center.

The Stars scored pair of quick goals to take a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.

Dylan Woolf made it 1-0 at 4:33 of the first with a shot from the right circle that beat Musketeers goalie Cam Gornet on the blocker side. The goal marked Woolf's first of the season.

Less than one minute later, Tanner Laczynski made it 2-0 with a centering feed that deflected off a skate into the net.

Biagio Lerario and Mike Gillespie earned assists on both first-period goals.

The Stars stretched their lead to 3-0 with Jack Badini's goal at 8:04 of the second. Henry Bowlby picked up the assist.

Sioux City powered back with two goals from Teemu Pulkkinen less than seven minutes into the third period.

The score held at 3-2 until Stars defenseman Trevor Hamilton pumped a power play goal at 8:39 of the third to make it 4-2. Laczynski and Gillespie had the assists.

Grant Jozefek iced the game with an empty-netter in the final minutes to extend his point streak to seven games and make it a 5-2 final.

Stars goalie Patrik Virtanen finished with 28 saves.
