
Road Takes Thunder to Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin - The Bloomington Thunder head off to Green Bay to take on the Gamblers in the FastHockey game of the week Saturday night from the Resch Center. The Thunder will drop the puck at 7 :05 p.m. for the second game of a three game weekend. The Thunder (24-15-3-1) are one point out of fourth in the Eastern Conference and just four points behind the Gamblers (25-12-4-2) for third place in the East. Bloomington and Green Bay finish their season series Saturday night as the Thunder have won three of the first five.

Bloomington fell on Friday night rom the U.S. Cellular Coliseum to the Chicago Steel on a late goal. Jake Slaker (St. Lawrence University) and Logan Lambdin (Michigan State University) each recorded multi-point nights for the Thunder. Slaker has points in his last five games for the Thunder and tied his 2014-15 total of 25 points (10g, 15a) in 40 games played.
Lambdin netted his 20th of the season for the first time in his junior career as his breakout season continues. The Michigan State bound forward is second on the Thunder with 32 points (20g, 12a) through 41 games. He also eclipsed 50 points in his career with the multi point game.
Sean Harrison (Union College) also scored in the game on an individual effort, putting in his own rebound. Harrison has five goals in his first season with the Thunder, helping the team tie the game in the first.
Green Bay's 3-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers helped them hold third place in the East and the overall USHL standings. Down by one the Gamblers came back with two unanswered goals from Brett Gruber (Arizona State University) and Nick Poehling (St. Cloud State University) on the power play. Taking their first of the weekend at home, Green Bay was 2-for-8 on the power play to seal the win, outshooting the Buccaneers 41-23.
Leading scorer Marc Michaelis (Minnesota State University-Mankato) added a goal to his totals this season. As the leading assist man in the USHL with 35, Michaelis scored his seventh of the year to lead the team with 42 points. Despite not scoring on the power play, leading goal scorer Sam Saliba (Michigan State University) assisted on the game winning power play goal. His 21 goals this season lead the team and 13 power play marks lead the USHL.
Goaltender Adam Huska (New York Rangers) made 21 saves in the game to his 17th win of the year. The top numbers belong to the Slovakian netminder with the top goals against average, save percentage, and shutout numbers in the USHL.
NEXT HOME GAME: Sunday, February 21st - 3 p.m. - The Thunder will host the Eastern Conference's second place team, the Dubuque Fighting Saints during Try Hockey Weekend. Sunday specials include $3 kid's meals, with a hot dog, chips, and drink. There will also be a free post-game skate with the team for Try Hockey Free day. Call ahead for $10 tickets as the Thunder honor their local hockey heroes before the game.
