SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Texas Stars scored a pair of second period goals 15 seconds apart, and John Muse stopped 33 shots in net to hold the lead, for a 3-2 win on Sunday over the San Jose Barracuda at SAP Center to close out a four-game road trip.

Devin Shore's franchise record goal-scoring streak came to a halt at six games, but the rookie forward added an assist to extend his point streak to a team-high seven games this season. Radek Faksa and Brendan Ranford scored back-to-back goals in the second to open up a 3-1 lead for the Stars (12-8-0-1). Muse earned his fifth win of the season in net.

Texas returns home on Wednesday to host the Rockford IceHogs at Cedar Park Center at 7:30 p.m. CST.

The Stars opened up the scoring early and awkwardly off a faceoff win in the offensive zone. Curtis McKenzie hustled down a loose puck behind the net, and his no-look centering pass deflected off the skate of Barracuda goaltender Troy Grosenick for his first goal of the season. Justin Dowling was credited with the assist just 45 seconds into the game.

The Barracuda (7-8-0-3) knotted things up halfway through the second with a goal from Scott Timmins, but the Stars responded with their two quick goals. Faksa forced a turnover at the Texas blue line to create a breakaway run for his fourth of the season at 13:16 and Ranford touched in a loose puck at the right side of the crease after Shore drove the net to create the initial scoring chance at 13:31.

Gus Young pulled San Jose back within one at 15:05 of the second, but the Texas defense would hold up for the remainder of the game to seal the win. Muse stopped 14 shots in the third period to preserve the Texas lead.

The Stars were held scoreless in their only power play chance to bring their power play goal streak to an end at seven games. San Jose went 0-for-3.

Grosenick finished with 25 saves in the loss.

The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars and currently in their seventh season at Cedar Park Center. Full season, 24-game and 12-game ticket packages for the 2015-16 campaign are on sale now. For more information, call (512) GO-STARS (467-8277) or visit TexasStars.com.
