San Antonio Rampage News Release
CHICAGO - The San Antonio Rampage (11-3-6-0) finished a two-game sweep of the Chicago Wolves (9-6-1-1) on Sunday afternoon, winning 3-1 in front of 3,418 at Allstate Arena. Borna Rendulic, Mikko Rantanen and Joey Hishon all bagged goals, while Rantanen tallied three points to lead the Rampage to their 11th win and earn the First Star of the Game.
After a scoreless first period, Rendulic started the scoring in second minute of the second period off a Colin Smith pass from behind the net. The goal would be the only one of the period as the Rampage went into the second intermission up 1-0.
San Antonio scored again in the fifth minute of the third stanza when Rantanen put the puck through the five-hole of Jordan Binnington to give the Rampage a two-goal lead. Just four minutes later the Wolves answered off a rocket from Petteri Lindbohm, ending the shutout bid for goaltender Calvin Pickard.
Joey Hishon netted an empty-net goal with 1:05 left to seal the 3-1 win for the Rampage.
Key Stat
The Rampage held the Wolves scoreless on five power play opportunities. Including last night's game, the Rampage were a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill against the Wolves in this weekend's back-to-back series.
Lineup Notes
The top line of Rantanen, Hishon and Dennis Everberg remained unchanged from Saturday's game, while Reid Petryk filled in for Michael Schumacher on the second line.
