Stampede Taken Down by Toros

AUSTIN, Texas, March 27, 2011 - The dead-eye shooting combination of Luke Babbitt and Tony Bobbitt combined for 67 points, but the Idaho Stampede (22-26) lost to the Austin Toros (21-26) 117-108 at Cedar Park Center on Sunday afternoon. Babbitt scored a Stampede-season high 34 points off the bench, making 12-of-16 shots, including 3-of-4 three-pointers. Bobbitt scored 33 points (12-22 FG, 4-10 3FG).

Idaho is now one game back of the playoff-qualifying Fort Wayne Mad Ants, who won their Sunday matinee against New Mexico to make their record 23-25.

Cedric Jackson had three points and 10 assists and Antoine Walker had 10 points, eight rebounds for the Stampede, which shot 49.4 percent for the game. The Toros took control of the game in the second quarter, making 15-of-27 shots (55.6 percent), while the Stampede made just eight field goals in the second period. Austin extended their lead in the third quarter by making 11-of-14 free throws to take a 15 point lead into the fourth quarter. Babbitt scored 16 points in the final quarter, making all of his shots (6-6 FG, 2-2 3FG, 2-2 FT).

The Toros had five players with 15+ points, led by Carldell Johnson and sub Kevin Palmer, who each scored 21 points. Kyle Weaver had 18 points, Marcus Cousin added 17 and Aubrey Coleman added 15.

Idaho finishes the season with a Friday-Saturday set against the Utah Flash. They are currently one game back of Fort Wayne and both teams have played 48 games.
