Wizards Dim the Flash

Bismarck, N.D. (March 27, 2011) - The Dakota Wizards stayed alive in the playoff race with 108-105 victory over the Utah Flash on Sunday afternoon at the Bismarck Civic Center.

Dakota (18-28) jumped out to an early first quarter lead paced by Anthony Goods who scored 10 of his game high 28 points in the quarter giving Dakota a 26-24 lead at the end of one. Darren Cooper came off the bench and led Dakota on a 20-6 run scoring 19 of his 21 points in the second period to give Dakota a 56-47 lead at the break. Cooper was 7 of 9 from the field and 3 of 4 from behind the arc in the quarter.

Utah (27-19) battled back in the third quarter and took their first lead of the game at 67-66 with 3:51 left in the quarter and led by as many as three in the quarter. A three-pointer by Anthony Goods with two seconds left gave Dakota a 77-75 lead at the end of three. Dakota extended the lead to 10 in the fourth and Utah responded by going on an 11-0 run late in the quarter to cut the Wizard advantage to 96-95 with 3:04 left in the game. That would be as close as the Flash would get as Dakota made free throws down the stretch to secure the 108-105 victory.

Renaldo Major recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Javaris Crittenton scored 14 points off the bench and Chris Ayer pulled down 12 rebounds for Dakota.

Tony Gaffney led the Flash recording a double-double scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Ronald DuPree added 23 points.

The two teams finish out the season series Monday night at 7:00 p.m. CT at the Bismarck Civic Center.
