Stampede Pull Away from Bighorns in the Fourth

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede outscored the Reno Bighorns 32-19 in the fourth quarter to claim a 111-101 victory. Idaho improves to 4-2 against Reno this season.

Reno shot 14-20 from the field in the first quarter, taking a 35-24 advantage into the second. The Bighorns were held to 40 percent shooting in the second period but still took a 64-57 lead at halftime. Idaho's Kevin Murphy led all scorers with 19 points at the break while Trent Lockett led Reno with 12 points.

After closing the deficit to three points in the third quarter, the Stampede started the fourth on a 26-8 run to take their largest lead of the game (15 points). Vander Blue had nine points to go with Allen Crabbe's eight in the fourth period helping the Stampede clinch the victory.

Kevin Murphy and Allen Crabbe led all scorers with 23 points each. Vander Blue scored 17 points off the bench while Scott Machado put in eight points and nine assists. The Stampede (22-19) held the Bighorns (24-16) to 30 percent shooting in the fourth to help pull away.

All five starters scored in double figures for the Bighorns, led by Trent Lockett's 17 points. Mo Charlo added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. The loss drops Reno to second place in the West Division behind the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

Idaho and Reno will meet again Saturday night at 7 pm.
