Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho (January 10, 2007) - The Idaho Stampede extended their winning streak to five games in a row with a triumph over the Bakersfield Jam 92-80. It was their tenth win in their last 12 games. Randy Livingston led the Stampede with a game-high 21 points.
Peter Ramos added 17 points, Ricky Sanchez pitched in 15 points and nine rebounds, and Jeff Graves finished with 13 points for Idaho.
Tony Bobbitt provided a spark off the bench for the Jam with a team-high 19 points. Kevinn Pinkney pitched in 11 points, while Brandon Bowman had 10 points.
As the third quarter began, Bakersfield jumped out to an eight point lead on a 6-0 run, but Idaho quickly turned the game around with a 7-0 run of their own to cut the Jam lead to one with eight minutes left in the quarter.
Stampede Coach Bryan Gates was called for a technical foul a minute later, and the Stampede subsequently went on a 13-0 run that eventually would extend the lead to 14 by the end of the third quarter. Bakersfield finished the quarter scoring 11 points and committing 10 turnovers.
Idaho jumped to an early 11 point lead in the first quarter, but sloppy play and nine turnovers in the quarter allowed the Jam to keep the deficit to two points.
The second quarter was defined by poor shooting by both teams, as the Stampede shot 6-for-21 (29%) and the Jam shot 7-for-20 (35%). Bakersfield was able to manage a two point advantage going into the half.
The largest lead for Idaho was 20 points with four minutes left in the game.
Idaho pushes their record to 10-7 and sits in second place of the Western Division, while Bakersfield drops to 5-12. The two teams meet again this Friday at Qwest Arena in Boise.
