Magic Assign Augustine to D-League Arsenal

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 10, 2007 - The Orlando Magic have assigned forward James Augustine to the Anaheim Arsenal of the NBA Development League, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Anaheim has been designated as Orlando's D-League affiliate for the 2006-07 season.

Augustine, who will continue to be included on the Magic's roster and will remain on the team's Inactive List, has not appeared in a game this season. He has been on the Inactive List a total of 30 times and has registered four DNP-CDs. He was selected in the second round (41st overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft.

Augustine, 6-10 and 235, played four seasons at the University of Illinois, averaging 10.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.03 steals and 1.01 blocks over 137 career games. He became the first player in Illini history to record 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds and is the 12th player in Big Ten history to accomplish the feat. Augustine finished his collegiate career as Illinois' all-time leader in rebounding (1,023) and field goal percentage (.617), ranked fourth in blocked shots (139) and 17th in scoring (1,383 points).

The 13th NBA player assigned to a D-League affiliate this season, Augustine is the first player assigned to the Arsenal. In all, 39 players have been assigned by 24 NBA teams since the assignment system was put into place prior to the 2005-06 season.
