Former Flyers Guard Ime Udoka Returns to Area

FORT WORTH, Texas, January 10, 2007 - Former Fort Worth Flyers guard Ime Udoka will make his first return to the Metroplex as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers when the Trail Blazers take on the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center tonight at 7:30 p.m. The Flyers are the NBA affiliate of the Mavericks in addition to the Charlotte Bobcats and Philadelphia 76ers.

Udoka, who is a native of Portland, Oregon, was the first player drafted by the Flyers in the history of the franchise when the team made him its first round selection (3rd overall) in the 2005 D-League Draft. Udoka, 6-5, 215, was a key member of the Flyers team that won the 2005-06 regular season championship, averaging 17.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 45 games (45 starts) for the Flyers before earning a Gatorade Call-Up to the New York Knicks on April 6, 2006. He was chosen by

D-League head coaches for the 2005-06 All-NBA Development League First Team and received the 2005-06 Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award.

After being waived by the Knicks during the offseason, Udoka was invited to training camp by the Trail Blazers and earned a roster spot. Udoka has appeared in 36 games for the Trail Blazers, making 36 starts, and is averaging 28.8 minutes, 8.6 points and 3.7 rebounds.

When the Mavericks visited Portland on November 12, Udoka played 24 minutes and scored eight points, hauled in two rebounds and dished out two assists in the Trail Blazers' 103-96 loss to Dallas.
