NBA TV present 12-game D-League MLK Showcase beginning January 15

January 10, 2007 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, Jan. 10, 2007 - NBA TV will cover basketball from innovative angles when it presents the 2007 NBA Development League MLK Showcase from Monday, Jan. 15 through Wednesday, Jan. 17. The network will televise 12 games, including 10 live, during the three-day event that will take place at the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The D-League on NBA TV will give the network the opportunity to introduce and experiment with new technologies and production methods for possible use during future NBA telecasts. Game coverage will feature:

- Wireless steadicam on the sidelines that will go out on the floor during the first of two free throws and during certain deadball situations.

- Two jib cameras stationed on the end lines, which will handle the majority of the play-by-play action.

- Six enhanced microphones to capture the sounds of the game.

- All-Access look into team locker rooms at halftime.

NBA TV's Rick Kamla and Tom Nieman, radio announcer for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, will handle play-by-play duties throughout the Showcase. The duo will also provide analysis of each contest and interviews with many of the NBA scouts, player personnel executives and general managers who will be in attendance. Sean Rooks, television color analyst for the Bakersfield Jam, and draft expert and NBA TV contributor Jim Clibanoff will serve as the network's on-air analysts. NBA.com will stream live audio of all of the games and live video of the two tape-delayed games on NBA TV.

A popular annual event on the D-League schedule, the Showcase will feature current NBA players assigned to their respective D-League teams including: the Fort Worth Flyers' Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Dallas Mavericks), the Sioux Falls Skyforce's Amir Johnson (Detroit Pistons), the Bakersfield Jam's Patrick O'Bryant (Golden State Warriors, 9th overall selection 2006 NBA Draft), the Colorado 14ers' P.J. Tucker (Toronto Raptors), the Tulsa 66ers' Marcus Vinicius (New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets) and Austin Toros' James White (San Antonio Spurs, first round selection by Indiana Pacers in 2006 NBA Draft).
