Stampede Cannot Complete Comeback

Austin, Texas (January 30, 2015) - The Idaho Stampede fell 112-118 to the Austin Spurs on Friday night at the Cedar Park Center. After falling behind by as many as 18 points in the second half, Idaho charged back to tie the game at 99 in the fourth quarter.

The Stampede hit three consecutive 3-pointers to begin the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run, bringing Idaho within four points. Ta'Quan Zimmerman hit another 3-pointer to knot things up at 99 with 5:32 remaining in the game. But Spurs guard Bryce Cotton answered with 12 points down the stretch to help put Austin on top for good. San Antonio Spurs forward Kyle Anderson scored 22 of his 30 points in the second half and helped seal the game at the free throw line.

Jerrelle Benimon led the way for Idaho by posting 20 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. Joel Wright scored a team-high 22 points off the bench while grabbing 10 rebounds. Jermaine Taylor scored 18 of his 22 points in the second half to help get his team back in the game.

Bryce Cotton recorded a game-high 33 points for the Spurs in a game where Austin never trailed. Kyle Anderson helped secure the victory with 30 points and 11 rebounds on assignment from the San Antonio Spurs. Former Indiana Pacers guard Orlando Johnson contributed with 21 points, four rebounds and four assists in the winning effort.

The two teams will play a rematch in a matinee tomorrow, starting at 12 p.m. from the Cedar Park Center.
