Stampede Add Coby Karl To Roster

BOISE, Idaho, January 14, 2010 - Your Idaho Stampede announced today they have acquired former Boise State University guard Coby Karl.

Karl, 6-5, who appeared in three games with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers this season before being released earlier this month, returns to Idaho following a 22-game stint with the Stampede last season. During his time with the Stampede he averaged 18.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 37.3 minutes and scored a season-high 32 points against Anaheim on January 9, 2009. He finished the season in Spain with Joventut Badalona.

Following his collegiate career, Karl signed with the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the 2007-08 NBA season and appeared in 17 games. During his tenure with the Lakers, he was three times assigned to the NBA D-League's Los Angeles D-Fenders, where he averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.2.

During his four years at Boise State, Karl played all four seasons and averaged 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 127 (111 starts). He was a three-time WAC All-Academic Team selection and finished his collegiate career ranked third on the Bronco's all-time scoring list with 1,698 points. He is Boise State's all-time leader in games played (127), three-pointers made (266) and three-pointers attempted (717).

Karl will join the Stampede this Friday and Saturday night as Idaho takes on the Reno Bighorns in Boise for a two game series. Tipoff is at 7:00 pm.
