SPRINGFIELD, MA Jan. 14, 2010 - The Springfield Armor announced today that they will be partnering with the American Red Cross and taking monetary donations during the four remaining home games in January to help those in Haiti who are suffering due to the catastrophic earthquake that occurred on Tuesday, January 12th, 2010. According to reports, the quake measured 7.0 on the Richter scale and at least 1.8 million people live within the area where the earthquake had its highest intensity, causing an unknown number of casualties.

"We are very grateful for the Springfield Armor's interest in helping to collect donations to help the people of Haiti," said Paige Thayer, Deputy Director of Chapter Support at the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter. "This relief and recovery effort will take a long time, and the needs are great. The outpouring of support from all over the country and right here at home is amazing-we look forward to working together to do all we can to support those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Haiti."

The Springfield Armor is asking all fans and residents of the Springfield and surrounding communities to make a contribution to the American Red Cross.
