Red Claws Acquire Umass' Lowe

January 14, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have acquired point guard Chris Lowe. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.

The 6-0 Lowe, a graduate of UMass who played under coaches Travis Ford and Derek Kellogg, appeared in 10 games for the Springfield Armor this season, averaging 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

Lowe will be in the lineup this Friday as Maine and Springfield face off for their second consecutive home-and-home weekend series. The Red Claws will be looking to avenge a heartbreaking overtime loss suffered at the hands of the Armor last Saturday in Springfield. After squaring off in Portland on Friday, the two teams will travel to Massachusetts to complete the set on Saturday.

The rivalry will continue on January 21, as the two teams meet for the fourth time in five games. Maine has held the upper hand this season, with a 3-1 record vs. their fellow NBA D-League newcomer. The pair will meet one more time this month and then will not face each other again until March to close out the season series.
