KENNEWICK, WA - David Conrad and Dustin Donaghy each had two goals and the Spokane Chiefs held on to beat the Tri-City Americans 6-4 in Game 5 of the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. With the win, the Chiefs improve to 3-2 this pre-season, while the Americans fall to 3-2.

The Chiefs scored three straight goals to start the first period, including two from Conrad, before Tri-City answered late in the period. Rookie Brooks Macek knocked in a rebound shot from Jason Reese, to put Tri-City down 3-1 headed into the first intermission.

While on the power play, Tri-City's Justin Feser picked up his first of two goals on the night late in the second period to pull Tri-City to within one, at 3-2, headed into the final period of play.

But, Spokane responded with two goals midway through the third period, including a short-handed goal from Donaghy, to go ahead 5-2 and held on the rest of the way. Tri-City got goals midway through the period from Feser and Reese to pull to within two, but could get no closer.

With the win, Spokane will now get a week off before taking on the Kelowna Rockets next Friday in Spokane. Meanwhile, the Americans will rest-up and return to the ice tomorrow, where they will face-off against the Portland Winter Hawks to wrap-up the tournament. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
