Four-Goal Second Sends Seattle Past Portland 7-2 in Red Lion Hotels Tournament

KENNEWICK, WA - Jim O'Brien recorded two goals and the Seattle Thunderbirds notched four goals in the second period to beat the Portland Winter Hawks 7-2 in Game #4 of the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament at the Toyota Center. Seattle improves to 3-2 with the win, while Portland falls to 1-4.

Seattle had six different scorers tally goals in the contest, including three in a three minute span to start the second period. Matt Hallick, Lindsay Nielsen, O'Brien, Ashton Hewson, Devon LeBlanc and Brenden Silvester all registered for the T'birds.

Meanwhile, Portland's Killian Hutt put the 'Hawks on the board late in the second period. Then, Kyzen Loo picked up a power play goal late in the third period to round out Portland's scoring.

Up next for Seattle is an exhibition game against the Winter Hawks on Friday, September 12 in Portland. Meanwhile, the 'Hawks will head back to Toyota Center tomorrow, to face-off against the host Tri-City Americans in the final game of the Red Lion Hotels Tournament. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
