Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Rockford, IL - The Traverse City Pit Spitters (1-3) gave up another big inning as they lost 7-2 to the Rockford Rivets (3-1) to open the season 1-3 with three straight losses.

The offense came out energized in the first, loading the bases with nobody out. Camden Traficante singled home the opening run and Alec Atkinson added one with a groundout. But in the bottom half, Rockford scored two of their own to tie the game up.

Carson Fischer (0-1, 11.12) settled down and retired the next 12 batters in a row. He struck out six through four innings, but trouble struck in the fifth.

Rockford rocked Fischer for five hits and five runs in the inning. Three hits went for extra bases as they jumped out for a 7-2 lead. Like last night, it was one big inning that would be the difference.

The Pit Spitters stranded multiple runners in the third and fourth, but they couldn't break through. They tallied just one hit the last five innings as they dropped their third game in a row.

Joe Horozco and Hayden Jatczak pitched well out of the bullpen. Horozco went 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Jatczak, a two-way player, struck out the side in the ninth.
