
Spitters Complete Season Series Sweep Against Dock Spiders

Fond du Lac, WI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters win game two of the series against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, 7-2. The Pit Spitters improve their overall record to 25-14, and their second half record to 3-1. The Dock Spiders drop to 14-25 overall and 1-3 in the second half.
The Dock Spiders offense got going in the bottom of second, as Lorenzo Rios led off the inning with a double to left field. Brady Katterhagen and Jack Peterson drew walks to load of the bases with two outs. Following the walks, starting pitcher Jake Michel threw a wild pitch, allowing Rios to come in and score, giving the Dock Spiders a 1-0 lead. Pit Spitters responded immediately, as Camden Traficante singled to left field to lead off the top of the third inning. Jack Crighton followed up the single with a double putting a runner on second and third. Glenn Miller hit a groundout to shortstop, pushing across Traficante to tie the game at 1-1. Colin Summerhill singled to center field allowing Crighton to come in to give the Pit Spitters their first lead of the game 2-1. The Pit Spitters lead didn't last long, as Rios doubled to kick off the bottom of the fourth. Jake Surane dropped a sacrifice bunt to push Rios over to third. Katterhagen then grounded out to short, bringing in Rios to tie it at 2-2. The Pit Spitters bats came to life in the top of the seventh when Camden Traficante tripled to the right field wall on the first pitch of the inning. Jack Crighton followed up the triple with a sacrifice fly out to give the Pit Spitters a 3-2 lead. With two outs in the seventh, Miller tripled down the right field line. Colin Summerhill then singled scoring Miller to make it 4-2. After a Brendan Summerhill single to right field, Tyler Minnick doubled to center field pushing across the Summerhill brothers, extending the Pit Spitters lead to 6-2. Jack Crighton continued the offense in the top of the eighth, as he reached base due to an error made by third baseman Graiden West. Glenn Miller put the final nail in the coffin, doubling to left field bringing around Crighton to make it a 7-2 game.

Pit Spitters starting pitcher, Jake Michel threw four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, walking a pair, while striking out four. Hayden Brown made his second appearance on the season, throwing two innings of scoreless ball, walking just one and earning the win. Hayden Jactzak, threw an inning of scoreless relief, giving up a hit and striking out one. Anthony Ramirez threw an inning, giving up a hit and striking out two. Holden Wilder finished off the game with a scoreless inning, not allowing any hits.
