Spitfires Fall to Sarnia 6-2

WINDSOR, ON. The Spitfires ran into a hot goalie and couldn't bury their chances and ended up dropping a 6-2 decision to Sarnia.

In the first period, both teams traded chances. The Spitfires took an early penalty but were able to kill it off. The Sting then took two penalties consecutively and the Spitfires took advantage of the second one. Perrott gave it to Cuylle behind the net who passed to Johnston on the side boards who went back to Cuylle at the side of the net and he drove in front and slid the puck five-hole for the games first goal. The Spitfires lead 10-5 in shots and 1-0 on the scoreboard after twenty minutes of play.

In the second period, it was much the same with each team trading chances and Sarnia getting on the board. Just under q0 minutes into the period Sarnia tied the game at 1. However, the Spitfires responded on the powerplay just 3 minutes later, Cuylle on the doorstep got his 2nd of the night from Perrott and Johnston. Late in the period the Stiong scored two unanswered goals and took the 3-2 lead headed into the 2nd intermission. The Spitfires had a narrow 18-14 lead in shots after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Saria scored two quick goals and took a commanding 5-2 lead. Late in the frame the Spitfires pulled the goalie and Sarnia scored to seal the deal and take a 6-2 win.

The Spitfires are back in action on Thursday when the Saginaw Spirit come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
