
Spirit Host Otters on 'Acquire the Fire' Faith Night Sunday

Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (15-23-1-0) welcome back the Erie Otters (15-18-1-2) Sunday evening to wrap up a back-to-back weekend set with their Midwest Division foe. Puck drop for Acquire the Fire Faith Night is set for 5:30 p.m. at The Dow Event Center.
Head-to-Head
Tonight, is the 10th meeting of 12 scheduled for the Spirit and the Otters this season. The Spirit and Otters played their ninth straight contest that was decided by two goals or less Saturday night when the Otters edged the Spirit, 4-3. It was Erie's fourth win in a row, but just their second in their last 10 tries at The Dow. The Otters now own sole possession of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. For the Spirit, they are in sole possession of last place for the first time this season.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: Despite getting out to a 1-0 lead, the Spirit fell Saturday night to the Otters, 4-3. Saginaw's home winless streak was stretched to six games in the loss. Josh Bloom (18), PJ Forgione (4), and Dean Loukus (11) lit the lamp for the Spirit, while defenseman Mitchell Smith extended his points streak to three games with an assist in the third period.
Erie: The Otters tied a season-long winning streak when they picked up their fourth straight victory Saturday night in Saginaw. The turning point of the game came in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza. The Otters scored three times to take a 3-1 lead. Though the Spirit fought back to tie in the third, defenseman Ryan Thompson scored his second career goal, both coming against Saginaw, to secure the win for Erie. The Otters are looking to win five straight games for the first time since their OHL Championship season of 2016-17.
