
Spitfires Come Back And Win 4-2 Over Sarnia

The Spitfires headed up to Sarnia for the third matchup of the season between the two clubs. The Sting took the previous two games.
In the first period, it was a feeling out process as both teams had a couple chances but nothing doing on either side. After 20 minutes it was tied at zeroes and the shots were 8-5 in favour of the Sting.
In the second period, the Sting would find the games first goal just under 5 minutes in. The Spitfires had two powerplay chances but nothing came of them. The Sting were up 1-0 after 40 minutes and had a 17-9 shot advantage.
In the third period, the Spitfires came alive. The puck was flicked up high over the Sting defenceman and Maillet burst by the defenders and went in all alone to tie the game at one just 26 seconds into the period. Just over a minute later, the Spitfires would strike again. Peer would go wide around the Sting defence and score his 4th to put the Spitfires up 2-1. Less than six minutes later, the Spitfires would strike again. A 2 on 1 developed as Christopoulos passed across the slot to Davis and he made no mistake for his 2nd of the season and a 3-1 Spitfires lead. Late in the game, the Sting would respond with a powerplay goal, it was a 3-2 game with 2:52 to play. The Spitfires would hold on for their third win of the season. The final score being 4-2 after Davis was taken down on an empty net breakaway.
The Spitfires are back in action tomorrow at home vs the Niagara Ice Dogs. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
